These same wondrous views can be seen on hikes and by driving. We're in the midst of two National Forests (Carson & Santa Fe), BLM land and two Wilderness Areas (Chama River Canyon & San Pedro Parks Wilderness areas.) Geological, historical, archeological wonders.
Elevation of casita about 6500 feet. Pedernal is just under ten thousand feet. Dry, sunny climate.
Within less than an hour's drive you can visit the Benedictine Monastery Christ in the Desert and Islamic mosque and educational center Dar el Islam. Various local churches and other worshiping groups welcome visitors.
90 minutes from Santa Fe. Travel north on US Hwy 84, through village of Abiquiu; in 6 miles turn left on NM Hwy 96. Two miles off Hwy on graded gravel private drives.
