The neighborhood has too many good restaurants and coffee houses to list. My favorites are Mudd Works (coffee), and Bi Partisan Cafe. East Glisan Pizza is excellent. Roscoes, Hourglass (great fried chicken), Observatory restaurant.
Go for a 3 mile hike up to Mt Tabor and get a great view of downtown Portland and watch the sunset.
